MU Health Care set to relax visitor guidelines

Beginning Monday, adult inpatients at University Hospital, Missouri Orthopedic Institute and Women’s and Children’s Hospital will be allowed two designated visitors.

On top of loosening restrictions for visitors, MU Health Care will also expand visiting hours by four hours, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Even with the loosened restrictions, masks will still be required to be worn by everyone inside the building.

Psychiatric patients will now also be allotted two visitors, however visiting hours will not be expanded.

No visitors are permitted for patients with COVID-19.

Anyone visiting the hospital must be at least 16 years of age, MU Health Care says it can continue to assist with Zoom and Facetime calls for any visitor unable to visit.

“We’re very pleased that we can further loosen our pandemic precautions while continuing to ensure the safety of our patients, guests and staff,” said Kevin R. Gwin, MU Health Care chief patient experience officer.  “We will continue to monitor infection rates and other key metrics for the region and will adjust our policies based on that data.”
