Mathews leads MHPCC, Barr Leagues
Kathy Mathews carded 39 for low gross and 24 for low net in the MHPCC Ladies League on Tuesday at Green Valley.
Winning teams were 1, 2, 3, and 10.
Mathews also had low gross of 41 and low net of 27 in the Edward Jones/Scott Barr Ladies League on Wednesday at Green Valley.
Willi Kulick made a chip-in, Mathews also won the weekly game with the longest drive on No. 5, and winning teams were 1, 3, 4, 5, and 10.
Gladman hits ace at Jaycees
Bob Gladman made a hole-in-one with a 6-iron the 165-yard 17th hole on Thursday at Jaycees.
The shot was witnessed by Matt Payton, Herb Kenworthy, and Jerry Smith.
Gainer paces Park League
Jenny Gainer shot 40 for low gross and posted low net of 20 in the Park National Bank Wednesday League at Green Valley.
Winning teams were 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13, and Team 10 had the lowest score with 60.
Frazee, Seekatz pace Rice-Galloway League
Troy Frazee shot 31 for low score on the front nine and Nate Seekatz carded 28 for low score on the back nine in Tuesday’s Rice-Galloway Optometry League at Green Valley.
Low net on the front was 27 by Josh Riley, low net on the back was 24 by Frank Vankirk and low net team was South Zanesville Eyecare with 114.

Low net on the front was 27 by Justin Wilson and on the back was 32 by Andy Turner and Jared Cox.

Charlie Goelz League plays at ZCC
The Charlie Goelz League played the Foursome: 2 Best Ball Par 3’s & 4’s and 3 Best ball Par 5’s – NET on Wednesday at Zanesville Country Club.
The winners were Shawn Melsheimer, Chris Minning, Chris Clewell and Jim Snider at 14-under, while second place was Will Wisecarver, Dan Sylvester, Ben Hess and Joe Goldsmith at 10-under, and third at 9-under was Nate Stubbs, Brian Addis, Larry Shank and Wayne Phillips.
Closest to the Pin was Al Burns on No. 18 (8-feet-7) and Longest Putt winner was Jason Rosser on No. 2 (15-feet-8).
ZCC hosted Ladies Auxiliary Invitational
The Ladies Auxiliary Member/Guest Invitational was held on Wednesday at Zanesville Country Club.
The first nine holes were a Shamble 2 Best Ball – Net, as first place was Connie McWherter, Brenda Atwood, Darlene Allen and Vickie Moore, while second went to Janet Pompei, Paula Brunton, Connie LaPlante and Betty Young, third was Kristen Hardcastle, Rhonda Todd, Linda Phillips and Karen Murray and fourth went to Susan Benincasa, Susie Moore, Ann Somple and Diane Decenso.
The back nine was a 2 Best Ball – Net format, which was won by Toby Rogovin, Lisa Johnson, Dottie Durant and Jan Schowinsky, while Susan Thompson, Kathy Worthy, Ellen Nist and Sallie Cochran were second and Cindy Linn, Megan Durst, Joan Minning and Debbie McLain were third.
Susan Thompson made the longest putt on No. 2 (10-feet-11), Debbie McLain hit the longest drive on No. 11, and closest to the pin winners were Connie McWherter (No. 8, 15-feet-0) and Susie Moore (12, 8-1).
King leads Parettes
The Wednesday Night Green Valley Parettes had Juanita King with low gross of 38 and low net of 23. Winning teams were 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 10.
Thursday Ladies League plays ZCC
The Thursday Evening Ladies League played the 3 Blind Mice format on the back nine of Zanesville Country Club.
Jan Schowinsky, Becky Weir, Connie Laplante and Linda Phillips won with a score of 109, while second with 115 was Joan Minning, Cindy Linn, Shari Weingarth and Ann Melick and Lisa Johnson, Janet Pompei, Toby Rogovin and Phillips and third with 120 was Diane Decenso, Susan Thompson, Ann Somple and Laplante.
Y-City League hosting coach pitch tourney
The Y-City Midget League will be hosting a coach pitch all-star tournament on July 24-25.
Cost of the event is $150 with a four game guarantee and is open to all-star teams only. Travel teams are not permitted.

Bishops Soccer Camp approaching
The Junior Bishops Soccer Camp, for students in kindergarten through 8th grade, will be held July 19-21 at Rosecrans High School.

New Lex CC hosting 5K Run/Walk in July
The New Lexington Cross Country 5K Run/Walk will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 17 at New Lexington High School.
All proceeds go towards our Cross Country team. Cost is $25 per entry and the first 30 entries will receive a free shirt and wristband (subject to increase if entries exceed expectations). Awards will go to female and male winners of each age group (14 and under, 15-20, 21-29, 30-39, 40+).

JG CC & Track to hold 5K event
The John Glenn Cross County and Track Boosters announce registration is open for the Fireman’s Festival 5K Walk & Run (Live & Virtual) on Saturday, July 10 in New Concord. The race begins at 9 a.m. and a registration fee of $30 includes a T-Shirt for registrants.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and; sponsors will be recognized in race promotions and materials, including goody bags for racers, signage, and social media. Volunteers wishing to log community service are also needed for the event.

Goins Scholarship Scramble to be held
The third annual Myron and Ruth Goins Memorial Scholarship Scramble will be on July 18 at Fuller’s Fairways. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Five scholarships will be awarded to five graduating seniors before the event. Requirements for the scholarship are a GPA of 2.5 or above, enrollment in a 2 or 4-year college in Fall 2021, and a resume which needs to include what college the student will attend and a description of future goals.
