Daniel Morrill

Dan’s gentle soul peacefully left us Dec. 8, 2020. Dr. Morrill was a graduate of Colorado State University Fort Collins and the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. At one time he owned Folsom Optometry Center and Precision Eyecare in Placerville.

He was very thankful to all who helped him in his vision to transform the old gas station on Main Street in Placerville into his Precision Eyecare office. Patients will remember Dan and Ellen’s beloved golden retrievers who were often greeters at the office. Dan was so honored by all the patients who chose him to be their eye doctor over the years. Mid career Dan spent 11 years providing eyecare to Alaskan villages, traveling via float plane, snow machine and even dog sled. Those years defined Dan’s caring spirit, willing to help and have an adventure.

Music was in Dan’s soul. He was a trumpet player from early on, enlisting his back alley neighbor Mr. Romeo (a member of the Denver Symphony) to give him lessons. In college Dan was a member of the elite brass section of the Colorado State marching band. His love of classical organ was the first connection he had with Ellen, they married while attending UC Berkeley. Dan will always be a part of those he loved; his wife and soulmate Ellen; sister-in-law Jane; parents Ed and Lorraine, parents-in-law Kingston and Louise; brother Ken and sister-in-law Susan; sister Lori and brother-in-law David; brothers Mike, Rick and Ed; niece Kasey; nephews Ryan, Drew and Michael and Soul brother Brett Perkins.
